Shahla’s research is focused on cutting-edge design and performance evaluation, applying Internet of Things (IoT) technology to support innovation-based multi-functional device applications in the field of Plant Eco-physiology & Hydrology: Toward Stem Water Content & Sap Flow. Her doctoral questions of interest concern climate change impact on tree behavior in alpine forests.

She received her BSc and MSc in natural resources engineering from Shiraz University, Iran that focused on hydrological and hydrogeological modeling. The skills she acquired were used in subsequent projects for UNESCO-ICQHS.

She was awarded third place in Euregio Young Researchers' Award 2019 competition for innovation in smart forestry and IoT applications.
